Title: former Cincinnati North Hotel to be demolished
Post by: busman_49 on May 20, 2016, 05:40:27 AM
I think I learned of this one when I was researching an old Holiday Inn outside of Lafayette, Indiana...

In 1981, a 250+ room hotel, complete with banquet rooms and a nightclub, was built under the Sheraton name.  The hotel changed hands in 2002.  It spent some time as a Ramada and a Best Western, along with simply the "Cincinnati North Hotel, before closing good in 2008.  The hotel has been vacant since.  A couple of people had photographed the hotel, including the interior, since then.  Here's a write up on it from Queen City Discovery (http://queencitydiscovery.blogspot.com/2010/02/cincinnati-north-hotel.html).  My only shots, located HERE (https://www.flickr.com/photos/busman_49/albums/72157649679588736) are of the exterior.

I was passing by early this morning and saw some destruction fencing around the property.  A little research turned up this article (http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2016/02/04/exclusive-one-of-cincinnatis-largest-hotel-to-be.html)

:'( Sad to see it go, but 8 years of being empty with water damage and mold, it's understandable.
