Title: Sears Grand
Post by: JSIDA17 on May 11, 2016, 07:32:48 PM
A very good concept at the time for Sears, unfortunately the merger basically killed whatever plans Sears had to expand the Grand stores, as instead of building ground up Grand stores like they were planning on, they simply slapped on the Sears Grand logo on some old Kmart stores, repainted it blue, put in some appliances and called it a day. Heck, some Essentials stores were even converted over to Grand stores. The later Grand stores even lacked a pantry (one of Grands' selling points), while the older Grand stores decided to rid of the pantry as well and basically just turned them into neutered Sears stores. Heck, they were so lazy that at some old stores they didn't even bother to take the pantry signs down, no, they just left them there and made it look like a half-hearted lazy piece of crap.

Example:

Sorry, rant OVER  >:(

Sounds like Sears was trying to make another sister store to be like Kmart or at least Target!

Can you tell the differences? Because I sure can.

Yes it's mine, I kind of moved on from it a few years ago, just didn't have the time like I used to to dedicate to it. I still have a lot of pictures of kmarts that I took and a couple of my contributors took that never got posted. I'm still looking to put those up for people to see one of these days. I also still pay to renew the kmartworld.com (http://kmartworld.com) and pacemembershipwarehouse.com (http://pacemembershipwarehouse.com) domains despite not updating the blog anymore and I also own kmartfanclub.com and kmartfanclub.org domains but never ended up using them for anything.

Bad move for Sears! I think that if a store like this should downsize, they should sell half of the store off to another retailer, or relocate to a smaller building and sell the oversized building to another retailer, like Gordman's, Target, T.J. Maxx, Burlington, Best Buy, hhgregg or Meijer.

Actually you are right on, Sears is trying to lease out half of the Sears Grand store in West Jordan, UT- http://x.lnimg.com/attachments/DA084C7D-B3E1-42DC-B7E4-C94B2F9D7C97.pdf (http://x.lnimg.com/attachments/DA084C7D-B3E1-42DC-B7E4-C94B2F9D7C97.pdf)
