Wasn't it the old Howard Johnson's motor lodge? I believe it is if the highway host website (the Howard Johnson remembrance site) is true. What happened to Famous Daves?

Yes it was a Howard Johnson's at one time. Famous Dave's lasted less than 18 months. It sat empty for a while then became a Chinese Buffet. Then it became a regular Chinese Restaurant. I don't remember when they closed. Might have been in 2015.
Cool...i had a feeling it was HOJO...
New owners bought the hotel in the Fall of 2016 and it's now a Red Roof Inn.
The Redroof Inn in New Britain (former La Quinta) is for sale. They're asking around $6 million.
