Title: Planet Fitness
Post by: Hudsons81 on January 07, 2016, 04:09:29 PM
Discuss.

The closest location to me is in the Southgate Shopping Center in Southgate, MI. It was originally a Woolworth and later became Discovery Zone and Sears Hardware.

Okay. In Bristol, Connecticut they are in the Bristol Commons (Price Chopper Plaza). The spot was So-Fro and then House of Fabrics. It then became World's Gym and then the particular owner went bankrupt and they closed. They divided the space and part of it became a 99 cent store, but they never rented out the rest. Then the whole thing became Planet Fitness. Then they broke through the wall and expanded into space that was part of Pilgrim Furniture and later Herman's Sports, Olympia Sports, Party City, and then Citi Bank. Last year they broke through the wall and took over the rest of that space.

In Meriden, Connecticut they are in the former Pep Boys.

They are in the former site of the Old Navy store (I think part of the former Petco too)
in the Century Square Plaza, on the hill above Century III Mall in West Mifflin, PA.

Green Bay, Wisconsin has two locations:

* Green Bay West: 2641 W Mason St, Green Bay, WI 54303 (Located in between McDonald's and Hardee's on one side and a Petco and Hancock Fabrics on the other, in a former Ben Franklin Crafts store.)
* Green Bay East: 1831 Main St, Green Bay, WI 54302 (A new, scratch-built location built on the site of a former Shopko Discount Store location, which later became home to Copps Food Center, which is now located next door on the site of the former Marcus Theaters Marc Cinema.)

In Waterbury, CT Planet Fitness opened in 1/3 of the Caldor building at 855 Lakewood Road at the corner of Wolcott Street many years ago. Within the past year they expanded into part of the old Bernie's. They are the only business in this plaza.

You should check out the new Planet Fitness in Cranberry Twp. that just opened this month. Brand new building and not just a low cost conversion of an old grocery store site. It's probably one of their best sites, and in a nice area, that is not next dingy stores like Dollar General, Aaron's furniture and Rent A Center.

Planet Fitness has leased the recently closed Kmart location in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania
(near Pittsburgh).  This is just down the street from an L.A. Fitness location at the
Great Southern Shopping Center that was the site of a mass shooting incident in 2009.

Yes.  The location was a Foodland, and then briefly a Bottom Dollar Foods.
When they were acquired by Aldi that chain made sure another grocer would
not be going in that location.

Here in Connecticut Planet Fitness bought out Cardio Express, so now we've got one in Southington, but it's on the small size. There's no room for them to expand. In the towns that had both Planet Fitness and Cardio Express they shut down the Cardio Express locations.
