A packet of ketchup in every box of mac & cheese?

You know, for those who like ketchup on their mac & cheese.

Here in Pittsburgh, home of H.J. Heinz, people are nervous about further job loss.

There were sizeable cuts when Warren Buffett took over a few years ago.

Thirteen years ago I went to a writing convention in Baltimore. I had to change planes in Pittsburgh. I bought a stuffed green ketchup man at the airport. Remember when Heinz had the green ketchup and purple ketchup?

Yep, I sure do remember green and purple ketchup.

I also remember when Pittsburgh was the US Air hub, and you generally had your stopover
here if you were flying anywhere in the East.

Now it is virtually impossible to get a direct flight from here to anywhere.

I remember attending meetings at Ames' HQ in Rocky Hill, and flying out of Hartford
back to Toledo.  One brief stop in Pittsburgh.  Today it probably takes 2 or 3 stops to fly
from Hartford to Toledo.

It will continue to be Heinz Ketchup, but now owned by Kraft.
(Kraft may own another ketchup, I haven't researched it)

Interestingly, Heinz came out with a reformulated yellow mustard, and now
French's is returning fire by bringing out their own brand of ketchup.

I have put Heinz Mustard and French's Ketchup on my table, just to confuse visitors.

My Mom bought French''s ketchup because it does not contain high fructose corn syrup and my Mom and I think it tastes more spicy than Heinz.

I have a fistful of coupons for French's Ketchup, but cannot seem to find it in any local grocery store.

Pittsburgh grocers are all in the tank for Heinz apparently.

Even here in NY not all the chains are carrying it (yet) - one is, one isn't and I haven't noticed in the third.

My Mom got it at Shoprite. I didn't happen to notice during recent trips to Price Chopper and Stop & Shop.

Still have not seen French's Ketchup in Pittsburgh.
