Title: Slogan question
Post by: Ameskid on March 11, 2014, 09:32:21 PM
I've got a large plastic bag with the slogan "Working To Win You Back" on it.  Any idea when this slogan was used?  It's red and grey, if that helps at all.

I think that would have been in the early to mid 1990's.  After the first bankruptcy, but before
they changed to the green color scheme.

Bankruptcy always chases some customers away because they see the negative press coverage
of stores closing, and assume you've actually filed Chap. 7 instead of 11.   Plus you have in-stock
issues because a lot of suppliers become reluctant to ship to you.

When I worked for them our slogan was "It Pays to Shop at Ames.....Everyday!"
After they changed color schemes they went to "Bargains By the Bagfull".

"I'm working to win you back" was a slogan from fall/Christmas 1990.

I believe they adapted that slogan from Zayre.
