Title: Potato Chips
Post by: ynkeesfn82 on September 02, 2013, 08:55:28 AM
I just had some of the new Lay's Garlic & Sea Salt flavored Potato Chips. They very good. Reminds me a little of Sour Cream and Onion. Definitely better than the Lay's Garlic Bread flavored ones.

My favorite potato chips are UTZ.  I especially like the UTZ dark russets.

Years ago I would buy the Eagle dark russet chips but they disappeared from the market.  Then I tried the Cape Cod dark russets which were also phased out not too long ago.

Cape Cod White Cheddar and Jalapeno chips were my ultimate favorite. Nice and spicy, too bad they eventually got discontinued.

Love Cape Cod salt and vinegar chips. Also like the Utz brand sea salt and malt vinegar.

Green is supposed to be reserved for sour cream and onion not regular. (http://i1304.photobucket.com/albums/s540/zonezilla/wHy_zps10836ce9.jpg) (http://s1304.photobucket.com/user/zonezilla/media/wHy_zps10836ce9.jpg.html)

Years ago Giant Eagle stores used to carry generic potato chips.
They came in a plain white bag with the words "Potato Chips" written in black letters.

I have no idea who actually made them, but they were some of the best chips
I've ever eaten.

Thanks! That brings back memories!

Giant Eagle launched into Generics in a big way in the 80's.   They beat-up their unions for a bunch
of wage concessions, and then rolled out a marketing campaign about becoming "the low price leader".
This involved heavy reliance on generics.

They hired actor Robert Lansing to star in a bunch of TV ads where he essentially said "we're screwing
our workers and passing the savings along to you!"  Quite weird.

Giant Eagle today is the priciest grocer in Pittsburgh by far.

If there were fruit flavored (IE strawberry, peaches and cream, cherry, etc.) potato chips, would anyone would want to eat them?

Their is a lot of things that were before my time that don't seem strange to me but no matter how much I think about it I still can't wrap my head around the idea that their once was a time where supermarkets had a aisle of food with nothing but plain white packages with black text. I can't imagine many people these days would trust buying something like that especially with all the food related illnesses that people get from eating prepackaged stuff as it is.

No... They would sell because of the weirdness of the product but they would sell for that reason only.

Gotta cast a big Thumbs Up vote for the Shearer's BBQ chips I enjoyed on my porch
Saturday evening while drinking a beer and listening to a ballgame on the radio.

So Lay's announced the finalists for the create-your-own-flavor contest for this year.

The flavor finalists are:

Cappuccino
Mango Salsa
Bacon Cheddar Mac & Cheese
Wassabi Ginger

Editor's Note: Bacon Cheddar Mac & Cheese is the only flavor I'd be interested in trying.

Two Thumbs-UP for Clancy's BBQ Chips from my local Aldi store.

Large bag just a buck forty-nine.  That could become addictive!   :o

They're not bad. They have them in the snack machine at Illusions the Country themed night club where I used to DJ. 75 cents for a small individual bag.

Anyone here remember these "Wow!" potato chips that gave you diarrhea?

I like any plain potato chip. It's the flavor that counts.

Yes.  They were fried in some high-tech oil that was supposed to keep the trans-fat content
of the chip down.  Unfortunately it had a few side effects.

Diarrhea was the "WOW" part...
