Title: Old store, any ideas what it was?
Post by: jukeboxhero on April 16, 2009, 01:36:50 PM
Hey everyone. This has been bugging me for a long time. There is an old building in Piqua, Ohio, that back in the late 80's/early 90's was an Odd Lots. Most recent it is a rental place. No one I've every talked to has any idea what it used to be. Any ideas?

Woolco is what I was thinking too, but I had never heard of any of those being in the area. Although I do know that there was a Woolworth downtown that then moved into the mall in town, in the 70's. That store was quite large as well. Was is common for them to have a large Woolworth in the same town as a Woolco?

My first instinct was Woolco as well.

I've seen Ames stores in Chris' galleries that are similar.

Makes sense as Ames tended to take over many stores that others had left and/or bought out many chains or parts thereof.  So, an Ames building could have been (just about) anything before becoming an Ames.
