The only major car accident I was in was when I was a little baby back around 83. Some woman ran a red light and slammed into my mom's Lincoln. We weren't hurt, but of course my mom was freaking out about her baby.

And I've had 2 minor ones right after I got my license last year. The very first day I went out I side-swiped my dad's car when I was pulling into the driveway. I mis-judged the space between his car and the tree. And I panicked and kept going putting a huge scape and dent in the side of his car. $2000 worth of damage to his car. My car just needed paint (which I still haven't had done more than a year later). For 6 month afterwards whenever both vehicles were in the driveway, I made my dad or mom park my car. Lucky for me I never had to pay for the damage to my dad's car. A used car dealer wanted his car so badly they took it as it was and just gave him $2000 less for it.

Two days later I was driving home from work and lightly rear-ended a lady at a red light. Apparently I didn't start slowing in time. No damage to either one of our cars. She was real nice and understanding about it. The police came and I got a WRITTEN WARNING for following too close.

What really boils my blood is that I could've avoided this whole accident if I had left work on time. I got out of work at 2PM. I cashed my paycheck at the service desk and then went to the bathroom in the Food Court. When I came out I saw a friend of mine was beginning his lunch break, so I sat there and began talking to him. I stayed there talking with him for his entire lunch break. So by time I left work it was really later than it should've been. If I had left work on time I would've never crossed paths with that woman.

I've only been in one.  It was back in 2003, I was on lunch from work and on my way back, and this old guy turned left into a gas station in front of me and we hit head on.  His van spun around and landed on the curb.  The police cited him for failure to yield, and actually took him away in the cruiser because he was driving with expired plates.  I'll just say that the seat belt saved my life.  If I hadn't been buckled in, I probably would have died.

I wish that truck drivers would learn to follow the rules of the road.  While I was in an accident in 1971, my daughter has been in 2 in less than 10 years.  The first was when a senior citizen pulled out into oncoming traffic, never looked once and caused a 8 car pile-up and then just drove away.

The other was a few years ago when a tractor-trailer pulled in front of her and her car plowed underneath and she was pulled to safety.  It took her 3 years to get behind the wheel again and still cannot drive next to a truck (nor can I) on the highway.

In each of these cases, the accident was caused by a cop (did I mention that in my case, he ran the red light??), a senior citizen and a truck driver.  While each case was different, each time the driver was not held accountable and no fabulous settlement (like you always hear about on the commercials by the ambulance chasers) was ever awarded to any of us.

Sorry to sound like sour grapes, but each of those accidents still makes me mad that our system won't truly go after the one who "caused" the accident.

I haven't actually been IN a car wreck, but I was up-close and personal with one just about 3 hours ago.  I was playing in the parking lot of an abandoned travel agency and heard a HUGE "CRASH".  I quickly looked at the side of the building facing the street; what I saw was horrifying.  A black Dodge Stealth (one of my favorite cars..sniff)  had run a stop sign and plowed into a Jeep Grand Cherokee's rear fender.  The Cherokee then flipped over only 1 or 2 times, landing on its roof.  As soon as I saw it I knew what I had to do.  I ran home as fast as I could, barged in the kitchen door and yelled to Mom to call 911.  The driver of the Stealth was probably at fault, and since he was teenage, he will probably have his license suspended (Ohio law).  The tiny amount of damage to the Dodge compared to the damage to the Jeep is amazing.  The lady driving the Cherokee was OK, but received a gash in her leg.  And yes, I got plenty of pictures!  :insane:
And one of the first things that I noticed was that the Jeep's airbag didn't even go off!!!

Wow! I definitely want to see those!  This isn't a car wreck but we had some crazy thunderstorms here in Providence today.  Here's the scene off the Admiral St. exit on 146.  Believe it or not the water was actually higher, engulfing the entire parking lot next to Dunkin Donuts!

I ahd two bus incidents recently.

My bus was going down a very steep hill with a sharp turn at the bottom.  I don't think the driver slowed down enough, and in a few seconds we heard a noise like a blown tire.  We pulled over, but all the tires were intact; we then discovered that we'd broken a front spring.  It got erepaired, though :)

In Sept. /2000 My brother was driving my car  (an 85 Sunbird) on Rt 61 in Pottsville,Pa (Schuylkill County). It's  was after midnight and he was hit by one our Ames drivers.  I looked down the road and there was an Ames trailer off the road. I loved that car!  My brother broke his nose, he hit his nose off the dash.  Other than that he was ok.

In 12/2004 I had one with my 95 chevy s-10. On the same road just about 6 or more miles north.  I was turning onto a side street when I was hit (just passed my back wheel).  I had my mother in the truck at the time, she had some back pain, but was ok.  The funny thing about it was my Brother accident happen by a Getty Station and mine also happen at the other Getty Gas staion .

well i didn't really get into much of an accident today but i was driving down to long island and i got off the exit to get to my sisters place and there's a stop sign and i stooped and waited to merge into the other highway since there were so many cars some guy driving a black Hyundai aka a bootleg Honda rear ended me as i was stooped at the stop sign lucky there was no damage to my car or his but it felt like he hit me really hard

whats ironic is that the same car that hit me today was the same car i rear ended nearly a year ago

No injuries or damage. Just some scrape marks on the back of my car. They'll just buff out, if I get it fixed. It's 15 years old and the whole thing has to be painted to fix the damage I did in my last accident 2 1/2 years ago. I don't work and have no money for a paint job, so it'll stat as is.

About a month ago there were 3 car accidents in 3 days along a 2 mile stretch of Queen Street (Route 10) in Southington, CT.

In the crash on Monday a guy pulling out of Taco Bell hit a pick up truck.

In the crash on Tuesday (which I didn't see, but heard from several people about) a couple of vehicles were involved at the intersection of Queen Street and Loper Street by the Price Chopper.

In the Wednesday Crash multiple vehicles were involved right before the entrance to Walmart.

Then last Friday a car rear-ended another car in the Shoprite Plaza.

And last night an animal ran into the side of my car as I was driving up Redstone Hill in Plainville. Neither myself nor my passenger were hurt (just scared), but there's some signifigant damage to my car..

I don't have any pics, but my Mom's '06 Chevy Malibu was more than likely totaled this afternoon when she was hit head on by a PT Cruiser when she was pulling out of Shoprite Plaza in Southington going up Interstate Park Drive towards Home Depot. Fortunately my Mom wasn't injured, but she has some burns on her arms from the airbags.

I was working in retail management and my wife was pregnant with our second child.
It was a long and difficult pregnancy.  Almost ten months!  We were in a rural Michigan
county and the old doctor there did not believe in inducing.  (he delivered all the babies
in that county, and truth be known, probably half the calves too).

At the exact time when my wife was dragging herself through Month Ten of a pregnancy my employer up and promotes me, transferring me to a store in Ohio 3 1/2 hrs. away.  I was
frantically driving back and forth, checking on her and trying to get things under control in
that store as she stayed with her parents.

As luck would have it I was actually back in Michigan when she went into labor.
Our daughter was born at 3:35AM.  I went back to our rental house afterwards to get some sleep.
At 7AM the movers were knocking at my door.  By noon my stuff was on its way to Ohio.

At 1PM I was on my way back to the hospital.  I was heading north, stopped at a red light.
A pickup truck was on the opposite side of the intersection headed south.  The light turned
green and we began to pass each other in the intersection.  At that very moment a car ran
the red light on the side street to the west.  He slammed into the pickup truck.  Every piece
of junk in the bed of that truck flew up in the air and landed on my hood.

I was there another hour with the police filling out reports.  The officer congratulated me on the birth of my daughter and wished me well in Ohio.

Things did not go well in Ohio.  The most hideous job I ever held, or likely will ever have.
Reason #6,136 why I got the heck out of the retail business.

Obviously I never forget my daughter's birthday.

What they say about taking your eyes off the road for just a second is true. Leaving work last night in the rain and the darkness. I stopped at the stop sign near Wendy's and was proceeding to leave the plaza, I took my eyes off the road for just a second and ended up hitting the curb very hard (almost hitting a tree), and blowing out two tires. I got the car safely across the street into the Taco Bell parking lot and while I was sitting there parked on the side of the parking lot (but not in a space) some guy backed into my car. No injuries and just minor damage.

Luckily not my wreck, but this happened right by my house a couple of weeks ago.  Not including pictures of the other car (a VW Jetta) because I'm not sure the driver was okay, but it was pretty much a head-on collision.

Accidents are far from uncommon at this intersection, which is right down the road from a highway exit. I believe it's one of the most dangerous ones in the county.

There was a bad one the other night in Wolcott, CT right down the street from the night club where I used to be a DJ. I don't know how many vehicles were involved or how bad the injuries were, but Wolcott Road (State Road 69) was closed for more than 6 hours. They really messed up the intersection of Wolcott Road and Woodtick.  They should've put the traffic light at that intersection rather than the next intersection up, which is Woloctt Road and Long Swamp.

Was involved in one a couple of weeks back.

I was headed back home from my parents' house.  Was traveling in the passing lane of a very busy four lane road (I needed to be there to make a left turn at the top of the hill).

There was very heavy traffic all around, including the opposite lanes.  Suddenly, in a maneuver I had not seen since the movie The French Connection, some lunatic came racing out of a gas station on the opposite side of the road.  He cut through two lanes of northbound traffic, just barely squeezing his way through.  He plunged into my southbound lane just a few yards ahead of me.

I had no time to do anything but swerve into the right lane.  I sideswiped a lady who had to pull to the curb.  The French Connection driver sped off at around 80MPH.  I thought perhaps he had just robbed that gas station.

Fortunately no one was injured, and the only damage occurred to the lady's car who I had sideswiped.  I did not hit her, but she bunged up two alloy wheels on the passenger side when she hit the curb.  A witness who was at the gas station came over and told the police that they saw the whole thing and there was absolutely nothing else I could do.

Which was true.  If I had hit the brakes I would not have stopped in time.  Would likely have killed myself and Mr. French Connection, and ruined the day of everyone who was coming up behind me.

Of course the driver who was the cause of the whole thing was long gone by the time the police arrived.

Ironically the very same thing happened to my boss on the same road about a week later.  He was not so lucky.  His car was totaled (though he walked away unharmed).

This was the second one I've seen this week. It was blocking the left-turn and inner thru lanes of a major five-lane road right just past a major exit off of Interstate 75 and just before a large intersection with another busy road that even has a railroad track crossing through it. This happened yesterday afternoon.

Ever been to Nashville, Tennessee?  There seem to be 14 car pile-ups
everyplace you go in that town.
Just visited a couple of weekends ago - incidentally, it was highway construction that caused the major headaches while in town.

My friend Richie who is a DJ on LaMega the Spanish Radio station in East Hartford got hit when he was driving to the radio station Saturday to do his show. He's okay and will return to the airwaves tomorrow night for the LaMega Club Mix Show. Richie broadcasts his Friday and Sunday Shows from LaMega on Facebook Live. He had this past Friday off (the night before the accident) and did a Facebook Live from his house talking about his upcoming Sunday Night Show and some other things. Someone asked him about the scar on his forehead and he said it was from a car accident 3 years ago. Now when I head about his accident on Saturday and sent him a "Get Well Soon" message I also mentioned "Stop talking about previous accidents you jinxed yourself."

I was almost in one on Monday. My friend Kyle from Philly (well not Philly proper) FB messaged me on Sunday telling me he would be in town Sunday and Monday because he was taking his kids to the Little League Tournament in neighboring Bristol and asked me if I wanted to get together on Monday. I responded sure. So it's about 12:42PM when he picks me up at ShopRite Plaza in Southington. A fellow radio enthusiast he wanted to see the radio station where I worked from 2002-2004. So we leave the plaza and make a right onto Queen Street. Traffic of course is heavy. We're in the right lane because we have to get on I-84 West up ahead. We've just made it to the edge of the driveway of the Exxon station next to the plaza and a guy flew out of the gas station, almost hits us, and gets into the left lane. Now being from Philly Kyle has seen some bad driving in his day, but nothing like that.

Knock on wood, I have only had two serious accidents in my life.
Both occurred when I was 16 and still learning how to drive.

In both cases a song by Heart was playing on the radio.
It's about the only superstition I have.  If I am driving and a Heart song
comes on I will lunge to change the station.

Was not involved. Saw this on Twitter. This is what happens when a GMC Terrain takes on a school bus. Amazingly no one got hurt!

WE WERE NOT INVOLVED.

My Mom and I witnessed an accident on Queen Street in Southington on Friday. About quarter to 3PM. We were driving in the right lane heading from Uptown Consignment to Aldi. Traffic in both lanes is bumper to bumper as usual. I notice an sedan waiting to make a left hand turn onto Queen Street from McDonald's. I say to my Mom "Look at this idiot trying to make a left hand turn onto Queen Street." She sees the car too. All of a sudden the woman pulls out of the McDonald's parking lot to make the left and plows right into a vehicle in the left lane. Both my Mom and I are like "WTF? Did that just really happen?" A woman gets out of the sedan and starts walking across Queen Street. I don't know if she was going to check on the person in the vehicle she hit or if she was taking off. Not wanting to get stuck in the mess Mom and I cut through the McDoanld's parking lot followed in to the road that runs in back of the parking lot of the little strip mall to where it comes out onto Interstate Park Drive. We make a left on to IPD and the a right onto Queen and continue to Aldi.

Wednesday Morning my Mom and I were in a minor fender bender. We were driving to Walmart on Queen Street before my first shift at BJs because my damn belt broke. (Not the leather part either. The metal part). We were in heavy traffic in the left lane. A young girl in a Toyota Corolla cut off the tractor trailer that was in back of my Mom and I and then bang she hit the rear of my Mom's Honda Civic. We get out. There is no damage to either car. The young girl apologizes. We don't exchange info and continue on our way. She continues driving like a maniac all the way down Queen Street, where she turns into the Walmart Plaza and turns into the parking area where the liquor store is. (After watching her continue to drive like a maniac I felt we should've gotten her plate number and called the police).
