The chain from France acquired MVP Sports in 1999 and renamed the stores Decathlon USA. In 2003, the company closed 16 of it's 20 locations leaving onlt 4 stores in MA. (ELLINGHAM, BURLINGTON, HANOVER, NORWOOD) In 2006, the company decided to close the remaining locations.
The chain was too small and faced The Sports Authority and ever-expanding Dick's.
