Their flagship in downtown Detroit was massive, in fact, it was the world's tallest department store and America's second-largest department store (topped only by the Macy's in Herald Square).

Sadly, it was imploded on October 24, 1998.

Never was in the Downtown store but used to shop the one at Lakeside Mall.

Almost the same here, though I was only two when the downtown store closed to all but employees, though I did shop at the one at Southland Center.

There is a person named Karen Newman who recorded a Christmas song titled "It's Christmas Eve on Woodward Avenue." It's an olden-days Christmas story told from a Detroiter's perspective.

Hudson's, specifically their Thanksgiving Day Parade (which is known today as America's Thanksgiving Day Parade) was mentioned in the following lyric:
Santa Claus came to town
In the Hudson's Parade
