Carb counting has gotten to just about everyone. People are wanting to eat healthy now. This why you see places, such as: Wendy's, Mcdonalds, and others seeling fruit cups and more and more salads. As far as Krispy Kreme goes..they are going to be even more hurt, because donuts aren't a health food.. lol I think they'll be alright though. For every carb counter you have someone obsessed with sugar... like me! :)

Newington CT had the first Krispy Kreme in New-England. On October 8, 2002, one week before our Ames closed, a huge line of cars packed the Berlin Turnpike leading to Krispy Kreme just to try a donut, as if they had never tried a donut in their lives. Well everyone, after 3 years, it's now closed. What was such a craze back in 2002 is now a stale thing. On Tuesday night, they covered up the "Hot Now" sign in front, took a sign on the building down, covered windows and doors with paper and employees and people who work for the store pulled up a truck to the back of the store, loaded everything left in the store, and fled away. On Wednesday Morning, people getting their morning snack waited in line just as in 2002, to now find out the donut shop is no longer open. It was a crazy and stupid way to close, no notice at all. They still will sell their products at Shaw's in Newington, just up the road. There is one in Milford CT, and some at the casinos. Krispy Kreme did many weird things at their Newington store like smuggling products to neighboring supermarkets at 3AM in the morning. The full story can be found at courant.com, and locals WFSB, NBC30, and WTNH.

Krispy Kreme no longer has any locations in the PA/NJ/DE area. I think they had about 10 or so at their peak a few years back, but the last few stores closed down last week.

They were planning on putting a KKD in Clifton Park, but I think they scrapped the idea.

I was there on day one, my friend. I was a senior in high school and my pal and I were on board to go to the opening of Krispy Kreme right in Newington - it was wild. We waited about 40 mins to get the dozen with a line trailing out into the parking lot. While I never used to visit the Berlin Turnpike frequently then, last summer I treated myself once a week to take a drive up there. Eventually, I gained a liking to their coffee and went there probably twice a week in the summer for iced coffee.

I go back a few months ago after not visiting in awhile to find a blue tarp over the signage. I was shocked!

Appearently the chain had their far share of financial problems which lead them to, oddly, close one of their only stores in Connecticut. It was sad but not too surprisingly when I thought about it. Every time I went in there, the place was dead.

Nonetheless, it was short-lived.

While you can still get the doughnuts at Shaw's supermarkets, the entire experience is gone!

I'll miss it. Maybe someday I'll go to the remaining store in Milford.

The one (and only) location in the Quebec City area.  I think it's the only location east of Montreal and north of Dedham Mass. !!

They closed the store in Visalia, Ca, late last year. When I was last down there to go to the drive-in theater, (December or January) it was sitting there boarded up.

I've lived in the Denver area for over five years now and can remember the opening of three new Krispy Kreme locations during that time. I'm originally from upstate New York and grew up with Dunkin Donuts.. there doesn't seem to be any to be found around here. All we have is Winchell's.. a ton of independents and of course, Krispy Kreme.

A friend of mine, who grew up in Colorado, remember Dunkin Donuts being plentiful here. I wonder if Krispy Kreme is the Walmart of the donut world

Here's the vacant Krispy Kreme in Newington, Connecticut located on the Berlin Turnpike. This building came about in 2003 and closed just this year due to corrupt practices. This was one of the two locations in Connecticut.

The windows were papered up and remaining signage have been stripped. Here's one of the courtesy signs in the windows.

Krispy Kremeis having finacial problems. All 3 Conencticut locations are now closed. Those were in Newington, Milford, and Foxwoods Casino. Or was it the other Casino?

Anyway until they close down the distribution store in Rhode Island (I think it is) they will continue to have them at Shaw's in Connecticut. One more than one occassion I used to eat 'em 3 at a time. And once or twice I ate 6 at once!

I don't eat them any more. I've been trying to lose some pounds. So far I'm down a total of 36.

Krispy Kreme's location in Milford is gone? As of when?! I was going to visit that one sometime this summer. There's one located inside of Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville - don't know about Foxwoods. I love their coffee so I got one when I was there for the first time last month.
