The former Bess Eatons that Tim Hortons took over all closed by 2010.

What happened to the Tim Horton's locations (former Bess Eaton's) in Connecticut. There used to be one in Vernon, IIRC.

They all closed around the same time, 2010 I think.

Fifteen closed in 2008 with the remainder closing in 2010. Maine is the only New England state where Tim Hortons continues to operate, and six restaurants there just closed recently.

While all the Tim Horton stores did close, Bess Eaton has returned in a somewhat small way.

From their site (besseaton.com):
David Liguori, a lifelong Westerly resident and former Bess Eaton executive, along with Don Hassel, Robin Busch, and Mary Duggan Haverly, former Bess Eaton employees and Tim Horton franchise owners, have secured the rights to the Bess Eaton Coffee Shop Name and Intellectual Property Rights. The group currently has four Bess Eaton Coffee Shops open with plans to grow into a strong local southern New England chain.

Locations listed are: Westerly, Wakefield and Galilee, all in Rhode Island and Pawcatuck, CT.

No idea if any of these are original Bess Eaton stores or not, though it would make sense if the folks running them were with Tim Horton as well.

The current Bess Eaton locations were Tim Hortons prior.Im not 100%, but I believe a couple were originally Bess Eatons before the Tim Hortons takeover happened.

Bess Eaton and The Whole Donut are good... (hope those two took over some Tim's stores...)

For those of you who may not know, Tim Horton was a Hall of Fame hockey
player.  He began his career here in Pittsburgh with the old Pittsburgh Hornets
of the AHL.  His wife was actually from just up the road from where I'm sitting.
He opened his first donut store in 1964.

He played 24 years in the NHL with the Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers,
Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres.   He died in an auto accident in 1974.

Perhaps their connection to hockey is why these stores are so beloved in Canada.

As far as I know, the southernmost Tim Hortons location is in Monroe, OH.  Visited it earlier this year on a flea market run.

Given that Monroe is 30-45 minutes away from Cincinnati, it's somewhat surprising that they haven't expanded into the Cincinnati metropolitan area yet.  They seem to be doing well in Dayton...

The ex-Tims in Norway, ME is being turned into a Dunkin' Donuts. All Tim Hortons in Maine south of Waterville closed last November.

The former Tim Hortons on Sabattus Street in Lewiston is being remodeled and will become a Chinese/Japanese restaurant named CJ Buddha House, according to Chad Sylvester, designated broker for Androvise Realty in Lewiston who represented the landlord in the sale a few days ago. Plans are for the restaurant to open in the spring or summer of 2017.

Tim Hortons is now closed in Waterville..

This was the last of the nine Tims owned by this franchisee; the previous eight were also shuttered.

Sure enough, Timmies is moving into Cincinnati.  There is a location on Colerain Avenue that just opened within the past week or two.  But more importantly, they are expanding into a whole new state: Kentucky.  I'm not sure where it will be yet, but there is supposed to be one going up in Erlanger.

Tim Hortons in Augusta, Maine (Western Ave. location).
Might've gone there back when I had my lake house in Vassalboro, ME.

They're now down to their last twelve locations in northern and eastern Maine, which is all that remains of their New England presence

Edit: Make that 11 locations in Maine with the sudden closure of their Old Town location

Tim's continues to retrench in the US with the closure of their Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN) area locations. As with some other closures, claims of bogus financial projections from Tim Hortons corporate are being blamed.

Tim Horton's seems to have varying degrees of success in the U.S. They seem to do well in areas such as Western New York, Ohio, and Michigan, while other places like New York City and New England, they sunk pretty fast.

Tims still has a presence in the NYC metropolitan area, but it's not as extensive as when they launched. They've also cut back quite a bit in upstate New York. They recently pulled out of the Cincinnati and Minneapolis/St. Paul markets as well. Lawsuits are flying over allegation of false and/or misleading financial projections from Tims corporate to franchisees.

The former Tims in Westbrook Maine which has been vacant since 2010 (!) being converted to a credit union. The drive-thru menu board for the neighboring KFC/Taco Bell can be seen to the left.

Thought I'd look - while their website doesn't seem to get much updating, they have a Facebook page with the most recent post from the beginning of this, saying they would still offer takeout and drive thru while they weren't able to be open for inside eating.

From that page, it still shows the four listed above (Galilee, also shown as Narragansett is seasonal so that may not be open) plus an additional location in Groton, CT.  So 4 regulars plus the one seasonal.

Just to update how that "branch" has gone.
